Lydia Plath and her husband, Zac Wyse, are contemplating their future family plans, expressing a desire for children but emphasizing the importance of timing. In an exclusive interview with *Us Weekly* on August 25, 2023, Lydia shared that they are currently “playing it by ear” regarding when they might start a family. The couple, who married in February 2023 after a brief engagement, are aiming to wait at least a year before having children.
Lydia, who is one of nine siblings, noted that her father, Barry Plath, has been eager for grandchildren since before Zac proposed. Even after their wedding, Barry’s enthusiasm for becoming a grandfather remains unchanged. Lydia shared a lighthearted moment from a recent visit, saying, “I have a shelf that my mom had all the baby pictures on. I have it hanging on my wall. And my dad came over and he was like, ‘You’re going to start filling that up?’”
Zac echoed Lydia’s sentiments, affirming their decision to wait. “We want to know each other better,” he explained, adding, “We don’t want to just jump in.” Despite feeling what he described as “baby fever,” he confirmed that they are committed to their timeline of waiting one to two years before expanding their family.
The couple envisions having between “three to five” children, believing that this size would strike a balance between a large and small family. Lydia also revealed that spending time with fellow reality stars, Jinger Duggar and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, earlier this summer intensified their desire for kids. The Duggars welcomed their third child, a son named Finnegan, in March 2023.
“Seeing Zac hold a baby, it was just the worst thing for me right now,” Lydia admitted with a laugh. The couple enjoys their time together, having had “plenty of practice” since their wedding day, and they have developed a comfortable intimacy. Zac stated that there was “no” issue regarding their comfort level, despite waiting until marriage for their first kiss.
Lydia added, “Whatever it was, was going to be perfect because it was us learning together.” This perspective reflects their shared understanding and commitment to one another.
As they continue to navigate their new life together, Lydia and Zac remain excited about what the future holds. For fans of *Welcome to Plathville*, the couple’s journey is one to watch as they balance their aspirations for family with their desire to strengthen their relationship.
