Lola Young has addressed concerns from fans following her collapse during a performance at the All Things Go music festival in New York City on October 7, 2023. The 24-year-old English singer was performing her track “Conceited” from her upcoming album when she suddenly fell mid-song, prompting medical personnel to carry her off stage.
Shortly after the incident, fellow artist and labelmate Remi Wolf reassured the audience, stating, “My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay.” Wolf expressed her shock by adding, “That was really f—–g scary.” Young later took to her Instagram Story to update her followers, sharing, “Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing okay now. Thank you for all your support. Lola xxx.”
Prior to her collapse, Young had opened up to the audience, indicating she had “had a tricky couple of days.” She encouraged fans by stating, “Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue. But you know what? Today I woke up and I made the decision to come here.” Her candid remarks resonated with the crowd as she added, “Sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta f—–g make lemonade.”
As she prepared to continue with her performance, Young appeared to communicate with her keyboard player before collapsing. Following the incident, the stage was cleared, and the audience began to leave. During her own set, rapper Doechii expressed her support for Young, acknowledging the incident and calling her an “incredibly talented artist.” Doechii urged the audience to send their love, saying, “Let’s wish her the best, okay, everybody? Say, we love you, Lola!” The crowd responded enthusiastically, echoing their support.
This incident came just a day after Young’s scheduled performance at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert was canceled. Her manager, Nick Shymansky, announced the cancellation via Instagram, citing a “sensitive matter” regarding Young’s health. He emphasized her commitment to mental health, stating, “Lola is very open about her mental health and there are very occasionally days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe.”
Young, who gained prominence with her hit single “Messy,” has recently released her third studio album, I’m Only F——- Myself, earlier this month. The singer’s journey reflects her dedication to her craft and her fans, even amid personal challenges. As she continues to recover, her supporters remain hopeful for her return to the stage.
