A gathering of local music acts will take the stage in Queens on February 17, 2024, for the “Punk Melts ICE” concert, aiming to unite against the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Freda, located at 801 Seneca Avenue in Ridgewood.
Organized by Shane Dan Turner, a well-known busker in the New York City subway system, the concert seeks to use the power of music to address the recent controversies surrounding ICE. Turner expressed his frustration with the agency’s operations, stating, “I decided to call the show ‘Punk Melts ICE’ not only because it’s been so frigid cold here in NYC the past few weeks, but also because I’m furious at the invasion of ICE thugs coming into our cities and kidnapping innocent people off the streets indiscriminately. I feel helpless to do anything, so the only thing I feel capable of doing is to devote my voice and music to fight it.”

The concert will feature a diverse lineup of local talent. The Shane Dan Turner Band will make their debut performance, showcasing their unique sound for the first time. Nick Grannelle, an indie rock singer and guitarist, will unveil his newest single, “Move In.”
