The Lewisville Western Days Festival captivated attendees over the weekend, celebrating country music, competitive eating, and community theatre in Old Town Lewisville. The festival, held from September 26 to 27, 2023, featured prominent performances by Gretchen Wilson and Shane Smith and the Saints, drawing in crowds of all ages eager to partake in various activities and entertainment.

Admission to the festival was complimentary before 18:00 each day, with a $15 entry fee after that time. Children aged 12 and younger enjoyed free admission at all times, making the event accessible for families. The festival showcased an array of performances across six live stages, including a much-anticipated appearance by renowned competitive eater Joey Chestnut. He returned to the festival to compete in the Padrino Foods World Tamale Eating Championship, where he aimed to break his own record.

Entertainment and Activities for All Ages

The festival provided a vibrant atmosphere, featuring an expanded Western Village sponsored by Frost Bank and a dedicated Kid Kountry Playground. Attendees were treated to diverse entertainment, including the theatrical performance “The Crash at Crush,” which humorously reenacted a historical train collision near Crush, Texas. The event’s organizers encouraged visitors to utilize free shuttle services due to limited parking in the area, as detailed on the City of Lewisville’s official website.

In addition to the lively outdoor festivities, the Lewisville Playhouse contributed to the cultural offerings with two encore performances of the play “Old Town Neighbors,” themed around the city’s centennial. These performances, held on Friday and Saturday evenings, showcased local talent and celebrated the rich history of Lewisville, further enhancing the festival’s community spirit.

Overall, the Lewisville Western Days Festival proved to be a successful gathering, blending entertainment, competition, and local culture into an engaging experience for all who attended.
