Priced at $48, this lantern allows guests to trigger special lighting effects at over 100 locations throughout the Buena Park theme park. This new addition enhances the experience of the annual Halloween event, which runs on select nights until November 1.
The interactive feature was unveiled by maze designer Gus Krueger during a video shared on Instagram. He explained how the lantern activates various effects, providing a unique way for visitors to engage with the park’s attractions and haunted mazes. A digital map is included with the lantern, guiding users to all activation spots across the park.
In practical terms, the lantern operates by switching from a static mode to an interactive one. When guests press a button on the front while near an activation location, they can unleash a variety of effects. For instance, they can transform the K sign atop the Sky Cabin into a fiery spectacle or create a dramatic ambiance at the Jaguar coaster with smoke effects and a red lighting scheme.
The effects extend beyond thrill rides. The lantern can also briefly extinguish lights on the exterior of the Calico Mine Ride and alter the lighting on the Supreme Scream drop tower from green to red. This multifaceted approach invites guests to immerse themselves in the park’s eerie and festive atmosphere.
