Focus Features and Working Title Films have announced an expansion of the cast for their upcoming remake of Jane Austen’s classic novel, *Sense and Sensibility*. The production has officially commenced in the U.K., featuring an ensemble that includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, Esme Creed-Miles, and Fiona Shaw. Joining them are notable actors Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George MacKay, Herbert Nordrum, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach.
Production Team and Notable Cast Members
The film is directed by Georgia Oakley, a BAFTA Award nominee, with a screenplay adapted by Diana Reid. The production is spearheaded by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, alongside India Flint of November Pictures and Jo Wallett.
Caitríona Balfe, well-known for her role in the hit series *Outlander*, has received multiple accolades, including five Golden Globe nominations. George MacKay, who gained fame for his lead role in the 2019 war film *1917*, has built an impressive body of work. His previous films include *Pride*, *Captain Fantastic*, and *True History of the Kelly Gang*.
Herbert Nordrum has made a name for himself in Norway, starring in *The Worst Person in the World*, which was nominated for an Oscar. His recent work includes *The Royal Hotel* and *The Hypnosis*, for which he received several awards.
Bodhi Rae Breathnach is set to appear in Chloé Zhao‘s *Hamnet* and has been featured in the BBC’s *The Capture*, which was BAFTA-nominated. She currently stars in the series *So Awkward Academy*.
Fiona Shaw, a BAFTA winner and three-time Emmy nominee, has an extensive filmography that includes roles in *Killing Eve* and *Fleabag*. She is set to appear alongside Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike in Netflix’s forthcoming film *Ladies First*.
