As the hit series Tracker navigates significant cast changes, fans are eager to learn about the future of Fiona Rene’s character, Reenie. Following the season 2 finale, executive producer Elwood Reid provided insights into Reenie’s evolving storyline during an interview with Us Weekly. Reid indicated that the upcoming season will delve deeper into Reenie’s life, focusing on her journey beyond her relationship with Colter, portrayed by Justin Hartley.
Reid remarked, “There’s going to be an attempt to build out the rest of the characters — particularly what’s happening with Reenie and where we left her off and what her life is looking like.” He emphasized that the essence of the show lies in Colter’s role as someone who comes to help others, a theme expected to continue into season 3.
In a discussion with Us Weekly in November 2024, Fiona Rene expressed her hopes for Reenie’s character development. “We are getting to see more of him. But then for Reenie, we’re seeing her identity without Colter,” she said. This shift aims to explore Reenie’s individuality and aspirations, moving beyond her previous role as a supporting character to Colter.
Rene articulated her desire for Reenie to experience a fuller life, stating, “I would like to see her live a full life and I would like to see where her vulnerabilities are.” She added that she hopes the audience witnesses Reenie’s struggles and resilience, highlighting her journey through challenges.
Tracker, which debuted in February 2024, introduced audiences to Colter and his team, including handlers Velma, played by Abby McEnany, and Teddi, portrayed by Robin Weigert, along with hacker Bobby, acted by Eric Graise, and attorney Reenie. Ahead of the third season, the show faced a significant shakeup, losing main cast members McEnany, Weigert, and Graise, while bringing on Chris Lee as the new character Randy.
Reid acknowledged the need for the show to evolve, saying, “I do think it’s evolving. If I can’t evolve those characters — Randy or Reenie or Bobby — they’re not just people that just pick up the phone and go, ‘OK, here is the answer.’” He emphasized that maintaining character depth is essential to the series and is a critical aspect of its ongoing success.
To avoid stagnation, Reid outlined his vision for the series, stating, “The only rule I really have of the show is each week Colter is going to come to a new place and there’s going to be a new case.” He hinted at incorporating more local characters into the story, which he believes adds excitement and depth to the narrative.
As fans anticipate the premiere of season 3, the evolving storylines promise to keep viewers engaged and invested in the characters’ journeys. Tracker is currently available for streaming on Paramount+, allowing audiences to catch up on the series before the new season launches.
