Ever Carradine, the eldest daughter of actor Robert Carradine, is openly sharing her experience of grief following her father’s death at the age of 71. In a heartfelt tribute posted on social media, she described the emotional turmoil of the weeks following his passing, which she referred to as some of the “hardest weeks” of her life.
On February 27, 2024, Ever expressed her feelings on Instagram, noting a visit to her friend Joanna Vargas, a well-known facialist, who helped her through this difficult period. “She does what she always does, took care of my heart and took a few years off my face,” she wrote, highlighting the importance of support during times of loss.
The Carradine family confirmed Robert’s death in a statement that conveyed their profound sadness. “In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon light to everyone around him,” the message read. It also acknowledged his long struggle with bipolar disorder, expressing hope that his story might encourage discussions about mental health and reduce the stigma associated with it. The family requested privacy as they mourned this significant loss.
According to documents from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Robert Carradine’s official cause of death was ruled as suicide, specifically classified as sequelae of anoxic brain injury. This condition occurs when brain cells are deprived of oxygen, leading to serious consequences.
In her emotional tribute, Ever reflected on her father’s life, sharing memories that reveal their close bond. “My sweet, funny dad, who’s only 20 years older than I am, is gone,” she lamented on February 24. She recounted how her father was always present in her life, whether it was driving her to the airport or attending her children’s events.
Ever described their unique relationship, emphasizing that growing up with a single father in Laurel Canyon during the 1970s and 1980s shaped her into who she is today. “I knew my dad loved me, I knew it deep in my bones, and I always knew he had my back,” she wrote. She conveyed gratitude for the life lessons he imparted, which included practical advice and deeper values regarding forgiveness and love.
As she navigates her grief, Ever concluded her tribute with a call for love and connection. “In a world so full of conflict and division, I think we can all take a page out of his book today, open our hearts and feel and share the love,” she stated. She encouraged those who knew her father to share their memories, as she seeks solace in remembering the man who significantly influenced her life.
