ESPN Set to Launch Streaming Service on August 21, 2025

ESPN is preparing to launch its highly anticipated streaming service, set to debut on August 21, 2025. This new platform, simply named ESPN, will offer subscribers access to a variety of channels, including popular offerings like ESPN and ESPN2. The service represents a significant expansion for the sports media giant, which is owned by Disney.

The ESPN streaming service aims to consolidate various sports content into one package. Unlike the traditional ESPN cable channel, this streaming service will feature multiple networks, making it a comprehensive option for sports fans. Subscribers will be able to choose from different plans, including the ESPN Unlimited and the rebranded ESPN Select, which was previously known as ESPN Plus.

Pricing for the ESPN Unlimited plan is set at $29.99 per month or $299.99 annually. This subscription will grant access to 12 channels at launch, including ESPN, ESPN2, and additional content from ESPN Plus. As for ESPN Select, which retains the essence of ESPN Plus, it will cost $11.99 per month or $119.99 annually and focus on ESPN Plus-branded content.

Channel Lineup and Future Additions

The ESPN Unlimited plan will feature a robust lineup of channels, including:

– ESPN
– ESPN2
– ESPNU
– SEC Network
– ACC Network
– ESPN Deportes
– ESPN on ABC
– ESPN Plus
– ESPN3
– SEC Network Plus
– ACC Network Extra

One crucial detail for potential subscribers is that ESPN will not include access to local ABC channels; it will only offer ESPN on ABC-branded broadcasts. Looking ahead, the service is expected to expand its offerings. ESPN has plans to add WWE Premium Live Events to the platform in 2026 and has reached an agreement to acquire the NFL Network, pending regulatory approval. Once finalized, NFL Network will be included in the ESPN Unlimited package at no additional cost.

Bundling Options for Savings

To enhance its appeal, ESPN is introducing bundles that combine its streaming service with other popular platforms. One notable option is the bundle that includes ESPN Unlimited, along with ad-supported versions of Disney Plus and Hulu, for a promotional price of $29.99 per month for the first twelve months. After the promotion ends, the cost will rise to $35.99 monthly.

For sports enthusiasts seeking a broader range of live events, the ESPN Unlimited and Fox One bundle may be more suitable. Priced at $39.99 per month, this option incorporates Fox’s sports networks alongside local Fox affiliates, delivering extensive live sports coverage.

The distinction between ESPN and ESPN Plus has been a common point of confusion. ESPN Plus is being rebranded as ESPN Select, focusing on exclusive content not available on ESPN’s linear networks. Current ESPN Plus subscribers will transition seamlessly to ESPN Select, retaining access to over 32,000 live sporting events and shows.

ESPN’s new streaming service is currently exclusive to the United States. There are no immediate plans for international rollout, and subscribers can access the service through an enhanced ESPN app. Those who already receive ESPN through cable or live TV streaming services may have access to ESPN Unlimited at no additional cost, depending on their provider.

As the launch date approaches, ESPN’s new streaming service is positioned to reshape how sports fans consume content, offering a modern alternative to traditional cable options. The comprehensive channel lineup, competitive pricing, and bundling options make it a noteworthy addition to the streaming landscape.
