East Feliciana High School capped off its regular football season with a commanding 58-14 victory over Northeast, securing a second-place finish in District 8-2A and a spot in the playoffs. The Tigers concluded the season with a record of 7-3 overall and 5-1 within the district, placing them just behind district champions Dunham High, who finished with a perfect 6-0 in district play.
The game against Northeast showcased East Feliciana’s offensive prowess, as they raced to a 52-0 lead by halftime. A remarkable second quarter saw the Tigers score 36 points, highlighted by Ryan Moore’s punt return for a touchdown and two fumble recoveries that also resulted in scores. Moore not only excelled in this game but also concluded the season as the district leader in interceptions with six, while ranking second in receiving yards with a total of 877.
In addition, Matthew King made his mark defensively, finishing the season with a district-high of 10 sacks. Quarterback Markus Cannon Jr. played a pivotal role in the Tigers’ success, passing for 1,470 yards, which placed him second in the district. Running back Kayden Wilson added to the offense with 644 rushing yards, ranking second among his peers.
Slaughter Community Charter and West Feliciana Wrap Up Seasons
In contrast, Slaughter Community Charter ended its regular season with a disappointing 49-14 loss to Dunham High. The Knights, who also finished the season with a record of 7-3 and 3-3 in the district, struggled offensively. Standout quarterback Ty’Kimion Ford managed to complete only four of 14 passes for 72 yards, while the team was limited to a total of 144 offensive yards, including just 61 rushing yards. Despite the tough game, Ford finished the season as the leading scorer in the district with 70 points and ranked third in rushing yards with 575.
Defensively, Slaughter’s Keller Spinks recorded the highest number of tackles in the district, totaling 91, while teammate Kaden Oakley added 66 tackles to his season tally.
West Feliciana also concluded its season on a high note, achieving a 48-0 shutout against Tara, a team that did not win any games this season. The Saints finished with a record of 6-4, placing third in District 6-4A behind Plaquemine and Brusly. This marked a successful first season for coach Terry Minor, as his team ended with a three-game winning streak, having won four of their final five games.
Silliman Prepares for Playoffs
Meanwhile, Silliman enjoyed a bye week, finishing the regular season with a record of 4-5 and a 2-3 district performance. The Wildcats are set to open their playoff campaign against Brookhaven Academy on a neutral site, having previously defeated Brookhaven 38-21 in their season opener on September 1.
As the playoffs approach, each team is gearing up for the challenges that lie ahead, with East Feliciana and Silliman looking to make a significant impact in the postseason.
