David Harbour has announced he will not attend the highly anticipated *Stranger Things* finale event at the Paley Center in New York City, which is set for December 18, 2023. A spokesperson confirmed to People that Harbour’s absence is due to a scheduling conflict. The actor was originally slated to participate in the red carpet event, screening, and discussion surrounding the conclusion of the popular series.
Other cast members, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, and Maya Hawke, are confirmed to attend. Notably, Millie Bobby Brown will also miss the event due to a recent injury.
The announcement of Harbour’s withdrawal follows reports of unusual behavior that surfaced just days before the event. According to a report by TMZ, video footage captured Harbour in a bar in Encinitas, California, where he allegedly took a man’s hat during an encounter over the weekend. Witnesses say that Harbour ran outside while holding the hat, prompting a fellow patron to follow him and question, “What the f*** did I do to you?” The situation did not escalate into a physical confrontation.
Adding to the unusual narrative, a Reddit user recounted a separate incident in Vista, California, where an individual resembling Harbour purportedly asked for a ride to a monastery in Escondido. After being declined, the man reportedly became aggressive and began yelling. The Redditor later realized the man was indeed Harbour after seeing news coverage of the actor’s presence at a local Barnes & Noble.
Harbour has not publicly addressed these incidents, and inquiries from Us Weekly seeking his comment have gone unanswered.
The actor’s recent behavior comes amidst personal challenges, including the release of new music by his ex-wife, Lily Allen. Allen’s album, *West End Girl*, includes themes that appear to reflect on their relationship and subsequent separation. In a November interview with The Times, Allen discussed shifting perceptions of intimacy and relationships, suggesting that many young women are reevaluating the traditional notions of marriage.
In a prior interview with GQ, Harbour expressed his desire to protect his privacy, emphasizing the impact of sensationalized media coverage on his life.
As fans of *Stranger Things* await the final season, Harbour’s absence from the event raises questions about the actor’s current state and his future involvement in public appearances. The finale is expected to draw significant attention, with other cast members ready to engage with fans and celebrate the series’ legacy.
