Sandra Jean DeVos Huber, a devoted wife and mother, passed away on November 10, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on November 3, 1945, in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of William and Sophia DeVos and spent her life passionately engaged in her community and family.
Sandy graduated from the State University of New York at Albany in 1968, where she developed a love for reading, language, and communication. In 1968, she met her future husband, Russell Huber, and the couple married in 1976. Together, they raised two sons, William Huber of Albany, NY, and Carl Huber of Penfield, NY.
Throughout her life, Sandra dedicated herself to various community programs. She actively participated in the Duanesburg Central School District reading programs and served as a den mother for Boy Scouts. Her commitment to education and literacy extended to volunteering for PBS fundraising auctions and reading for the print disabled through the WMHT RISE program. Additionally, she enjoyed a fulfilling career within the Schenectady County Public Library system.
Sandy was known for her vibrant personality and diverse interests. She had a passion for mystery novels, stained glass art projects, and culinary pursuits, which included cooking and baking. Her adventurous spirit was evident in her love for road trips.
In her passing, Sandra is predeceased by siblings Catherine Agans and William DeVos, while her brother Kenneth DeVos survives her. She leaves behind her devoted husband Russ, her two sons, and a loving network of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place on December 6, 2025, from 14:00 to 16:00 at the White-Van Buren Funeral Home, located at 1779 Main St., Delanson, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to local PBS television stations or National Public Radio stations in her name.
