Community Mourns Passing of Steven Richard Metzler at 68

Steven Richard Metzler, a beloved figure in Golden Valley, passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 68. Renowned for his dedication to both his family and his business, Metzler leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

Metzler was the owner of Dayspring Window Cleaning, a company he operated for an impressive 38 years. His sons, Nathan and John Metzler, now carry on the family business, ensuring that his entrepreneurial spirit continues to thrive.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Metzler was known for his musical talent. He played trumpet for the St. Paul Scouts and was a member of Brio Brass, showcasing his passion for music throughout his life. His educational journey included attending St. Agnes and St. Paul Central high schools, followed by studies at the University of Minnesota.

Metzler’s family ties were strong, and he is preceded in death by his parents, George and Regina Metzler, as well as his brother, Chris. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lynn Metzler, and their children: daughter Missy (married to Joe Nikovics) and sons Nathan (married to Mikayla) and John Metzler. He also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as siblings Nancy (married to Rob Mathewson), Julie Janson, Joe (married to Lisa Metzler), Rose Bidwell, and Robert Metzler.

Funeral Arrangements and Community Support

The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Friday, October 29, 2025, from 4 PM to 7 PM at David Lee Funeral Home, located at 1220 Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata. A funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday, at 11 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, situated at 115 Wayzata Blvd. W. Following the service, Metzler will be laid to rest at Groveland Cemetery.

Friends, family, and community members are expected to gather to honor Metzler’s life, reflecting on the impact he made in both his personal and professional spheres. His passing has left a significant void, but his memory will undoubtedly continue to inspire those who knew him.
