Washington State University Appoints New Chief Administrative Officer

Kerri Davidson

Washington State University (WSU) has established a new administrative position aimed at enhancing operational efficiency across its system. Announced on October 5, 2023, through a post on WSU Insider, the university appointed Kerri Davidson as the chief administrative officer and vice president of institutional affairs.

In her new role, Davidson will act as a senior adviser and partner to WSU President Elizabeth Cantwell. Her responsibilities will include leading system-wide and presidential initiatives, fostering collaboration among campuses, and advancing innovation-focused development. Additionally, Davidson will ensure effective communication and alignment among leadership teams while optimizing administrative operations for the Office of the President.

Background and Experience

Kerri Davidson brings a wealth of experience to her new position. Prior to joining WSU, she served as the vice president and chief of staff at Utah State University. Davidson’s career spans over 13 years at Arizona State University, where she held several executive roles. This extensive background equips her with the skills necessary to enhance WSU’s administrative functions.

President Cantwell, who previously held the position of president at Utah State University before her transition to WSU earlier this year, expressed confidence in Davidson’s capabilities. The university aims to leverage her expertise to streamline operations and promote a culture of innovation within the institution.

Goals for the New Role

The creation of this role reflects WSU’s commitment to improving its operational framework. By appointing Davidson, the university seeks to strengthen cross-campus collaboration to ensure consistency and efficiency in administrative processes. As WSU continues to evolve, the focus on effective communication among leadership teams will be crucial.

Davidson’s appointment is expected to play a significant role in navigating challenges and opportunities as WSU enhances its institutional affairs. The university looks forward to her contributions in driving initiatives that will benefit the entire WSU community.
