The Teen Action and Support Center (TASC) will hold its inaugural Alternatives to College Night on August 29, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event aims to provide local teenagers and their parents with valuable insights into various post-high school options that extend beyond traditional college pathways.
Taking place at The Hub, located at 1194 W. Walnut Street in Rogers, the evening will feature representatives from local trade, technical, and beauty schools. This casual, drop-in format allows attendees to explore a range of career opportunities and educational programs designed to prepare them for the workforce.
Community partners supporting this initiative include reputable organizations such as Pak Home Realty, the NWACC Certificate Program, and Arkansas Workforce Connections. Other participants include Brightwater, the Career Academy of Hair Design, the Arkansas College of Electricity, the Academy of Professional Cosmetology, Frisco Tattoo, State Farm, NWTI, Trailside Yoga, and the Rogers Fire and EMT Department.
Founded in 2005, TASC is dedicated to serving teenagers aged 13 to 19 across Benton and Washington Counties. It operates three locations: The Hub and Restore Counseling Center in Rogers, as well as The Station in Springdale. Through events like Alternatives to College Night, TASC aims to empower youth by broadening their understanding of available educational and vocational pathways.
The organization recognizes the importance of providing diverse options for young people who may not choose the traditional college route. By gathering a variety of educational representatives under one roof, TASC hopes to spark interest in career paths that align with individual talents and interests.
In addition to exploring educational options, the event will also foster community engagement. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet local professionals, ask questions, and gain insights into the skills and training necessary for various careers.
As the job market continues to evolve, TASC’s Alternatives to College Night reflects a growing recognition of the value of vocational training and alternative education. The event not only serves as an informational resource but also emphasizes the importance of equipping the next generation with the tools they need to succeed in a competitive landscape.
For those interested in attending, registration is not required, and all are welcome to participate. This initiative underscores TASC’s commitment to supporting youth in their journey toward fulfilling and successful futures.
