Capital Region BOCES welcomed five new faculty members to its Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for the 2025-26 school year. These educators bring extensive experience from their respective industries, positioning them to effectively prepare students for future careers.
Meet the New Instructors
The new faculty includes Adriane Ball, who is set to teach Cosmetology. With a robust background in beauty and personal care, Ball aims to provide students with both practical skills and industry insights. Samuel DiPrete will take on the role of Electrical Trades instructor, drawing upon his two decades of experience in electrical systems and safety practices.
Another addition is Karen “Kema” Maxwell, who will teach Global Fashion. Maxwell’s expertise in fashion design and marketing will equip students with a global perspective on the industry. Craige Ohlstein joins as the Plumbing teacher, offering students hands-on training in plumbing systems and installation techniques.
Lastly, Eric Smith takes the lead in the Criminal Justice program. His background in law enforcement and legal studies will serve to inspire and educate students interested in pursuing careers in public safety and justice.
Experience Matters in CTE
Each of these educators comes with a minimum of 20 years of industry experience, ensuring that students receive instruction rooted in real-world applications. Capital Region BOCES recognizes the importance of practical knowledge in CTE, as it helps bridge the gap between academic learning and vocational skills.
By integrating their extensive backgrounds into the classroom, these instructors aim to foster a learning environment that prepares students not just for exams, but for actual careers. This approach aligns with the organization’s goal of equipping high school students with the skills necessary to succeed in competitive job markets.
The introduction of these experienced faculty members reflects Capital Region BOCES’ commitment to enhancing its CTE programs, ensuring that they remain relevant and responsive to the needs of students and the evolving job landscape.
