A free art critique class will be held at Upstairs Artspace in Tryon on August 27, 2023, starting at 14:00. The event, led by Eldred Hudson, curator of the ongoing exhibition “Makers & Mentors: Balancing Art Practice and Teaching,” invites participants to engage in a lively discussion surrounding the showcased works.
Hudson, a retired professor from UNC Charlotte, will facilitate the critique, which revolves around the contributions of twelve art educators whose work spans all educational levels, from kindergarten to university. This class provides an opportunity for attendees to articulate their thoughts and offer feedback, an essential aspect of art education. Notably, the artists featured in the exhibition will not be present, allowing guests to freely express their opinions without reservations.
The “Makers & Mentors” exhibition will remain on display until September 5, 2023. Upstairs Artspace is located at 49 S. Trade and operates Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00. Interested individuals may contact the venue at 828-859-2828 for further inquiries.
This event not only highlights the significance of critique in the art world but also fosters a supportive community atmosphere where artists and art enthusiasts can engage meaningfully.
