As the new academic year approaches, Jamestown Middle School (JMS) is ready to embark on an exciting and enriching journey for the 2025-2026 school year. The administration and staff are dedicated to providing a supportive and challenging educational environment tailored to the needs of early adolescents, emphasizing active and meaningful learning experiences.
New Leadership and Faculty Appointments
This year, Brian Knox will take on the role of principal at JMS. Mr. Knox brings with him an extensive background in education, having accumulated 32 years of experience as both a teacher and administrator in K-12 settings in Wyoming. His leadership is expected to foster a collaborative and innovative atmosphere at the school.
Joining the faculty is Tammy Maus, who will teach 8th grade geography. Mrs. Maus previously taught 5th grade at Gussner Elementary School, and her transition to JMS is anticipated to enhance the educational experience for students.
Key Dates and Events for Students and Parents
Students and parents should note that schedule cards will be available on August 13, 2025, through the PowerSchool system. Those unable to access their schedules online can collect a paper copy at the JMS office from 08:00 to 16:00. On the same days, JMS will open its doors for students and families to explore the building and locate their classrooms. The food service department will also be available to process lunch payments, while transportation sign-ups will occur in the cafeteria area.
To assist incoming 6th graders, JMS will host an orientation session on the evening of August 14, 2025, from 18:00 to 19:00. This event will allow students and their parents to meet teachers, counselors, and principals, as well as tour the classrooms. Parents are encouraged to remain actively involved in their children’s education, as studies show that parental engagement contributes significantly to academic success.
Additionally, the school will hold an open house titled “What’s Poppin’ at JMS” on August 26, 2025, from 17:30 to 18:30. During this event, students in grades six through eight will guide their families through the school, meeting their teachers while enjoying popcorn. This informal gathering aims to foster community spirit and strengthen the bond between families and the school.
With a focus on developmentally responsive and equitable education, Jamestown Middle School is poised to provide a dynamic learning environment for all students this school year.
