Schools in Hutto and Coupland, Texas, are taking proactive steps to prepare students and families for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. The Hutto Independent School District is set to host an Advanced Academics Night on January 8, 2026, at Hutto High School, aimed at middle and high school students interested in advanced placement and dual-credit courses.
The event will begin at 18:00 and will include a presentation by Superintendent Earl Parcell. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about higher-level educational options and meet with the district’s advanced placement teachers. Information will also be provided regarding high school-based early college programs and the Texas Bioscience Institute.
In addition, the Coupland Independent School District is planning an informational session on January 21, 2026, in the Coupland School gymnasium located at 620 S. Commerce St.. This meeting will focus on the transition of students from elementary school to the new junior high and high school, which is set to open in August 2026. The exact time for this session will be announced at a later date.
Coupland has not had a secondary school since the 1940s, and students have been bussed to nearby towns for high school education. A voter-approved bond in 2023 has allowed Coupland ISD to construct a combined junior high and high school, marking a significant change for the community.
During the January 21 meeting, parents and students will receive detailed information about the academic and extracurricular programs that will be available at the new Coupland Junior High and High School. Officials expect to address questions regarding upcoming changes and anticipated growth within the Coupland ISD.
A previous informational meeting took place on December 10, and registration for new and returning students to Coupland ISD is currently open. The district is also accepting transfer students. Interested parties can visit couplandisd.org and click on the “Registration” link for enrollment details. For further inquiries, individuals can call 512-856-2422 or email [email protected].
As both districts prepare for the future, school officials emphasize the importance of these sessions for families to explore educational opportunities and make informed decisions about their children’s academic paths.
