The Hazleton Area libraries are offering a range of engaging events throughout November and into December 2025. From board game nights to educational presentations, these activities aim to foster community connections and provide enriching experiences for residents of all ages.
Upcoming Events at Hazleton Area Public Library
Located at 55 N. Church St., the Hazleton Area Public Library is hosting several events. On November 11, adults can enjoy Board Game Night from 18:00 to 19:30 in the community room. This free event features classic games such as Scrabble, Scattergories, and UNO, with participants encouraged to bring their own favorites. Those interested should register by calling the Reference Desk at 570-454-2961.
On the same day, a Homeschool Hour will take place, featuring a presentation by Nicole, curator of the Eckley Miners Village. This session will explore the life of coal miners and their families, including hands-on activities like butter making. Registration for this event is available through the youth services department starting on November 3.
Other notable events include a Walking Meditation session led by licensed guide Sheila Dignazio on November 15, and a Children’s Chess Night on November 17. Both activities are free, although registration is required. The library will also host an Adult Craft Class on November 20, where participants can create macrame cord fringe holiday trees.
Special Programs at Other Local Libraries
The Marian Sutherland Kirby Library, located at 35 Kirby Ave., will feature a presentation on Chronic Wasting Disease by wildlife biologist Robyn Crouthamel on November 19. This program aims to educate the public about the disease’s impact on deer and elk populations in Pennsylvania. Registration is necessary, and interested individuals can call the library for more details.
The Ringtown Area Library is also hosting frequent events, including Preschool Playtime every Tuesday at 10:30. This unstructured hour invites young children to socialize and explore educational toys without the need for registration. Additionally, the library will hold a Puzzle Competition on November 22, offering a $20 gift certificate to the winning team.
The Weatherly Area Community Library will run a Storytime session on November 14 for 24 children, while the White Haven Area Community Library will sponsor its annual Holiday Quilts and Crafts Show on December 6. This popular event will feature quilts, craft vendors, and homemade food, with tickets available for $5.
