Harker Heights Library Launches Exciting Fall Break Programs

The Stewart C. Meyer Harker Heights Public Library is set to kick off its Fall Break programs this weekend, offering a variety of engaging activities and events for community members of all ages. The library invites residents to participate in these enriching experiences while supporting library initiatives.

Upcoming Events and Activities

The much-anticipated Friends of the Library Book Sale will begin on Friday, providing an opportunity for patrons to purchase gently used books, DVDs, and games. The sale will run from 14:00 to 18:00, with all proceeds benefiting library programs. This event encourages support for local literacy efforts while allowing families to explore budget-friendly options.

On Saturday, two key events will take place. The Stepping Stones: Speech and Language Workshop, hosted by Therapeds Works, is scheduled for 10:30 in the morning for pre-registered participants. Later that day, families can enjoy the Fall Break Magic Show at 14:00, presented by library volunteer Mr. Elder Stewart. This performance promises to be a delightful experience for attendees of all ages.

Regular Saturday activities will also be available, including the Maker Space from 10:00 to 13:00 and Pokémon Card Games from 13:00 to 15:00. These programs encourage creativity and social interaction among participants.

Weekly Programming Highlights

The library has a full schedule of events throughout the week. On October 3, the Baby Time session will be held at 10:00 for children aged 18 months and younger, along with their parents or caregivers. This program focuses on learning through rhymes, songs, and interactive play.

For those interested in hands-on creativity, the Maker Space will be open from 10:00 to 15:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, allowing visitors to explore independent projects. The Preschool Story Time sessions will occur at 10:00 on Wednesday and 09:00 on Thursday, catering to children aged 3 to 6 and their families.

On October 4, the Busy Builders event will take place from 14:00 to 16:00, where children of all ages can engage in building activities using LEGOs, Magna Tiles, and other materials. Adult supervision is required for this interactive session, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.

Thursday will feature a Toddler Time at 10:00 for children 3 years and younger, focusing on songs and storytelling. Additionally, the Money Smarts for Kids program, presented by Navy Federal Credit Union, will take place at 14:00, aimed at teaching elementary-aged children about financial literacy.

The week will conclude with the Adults’ Book Discussion Club, meeting on Thursday at 18:30 both in-person and virtually. Participants will discuss Percival Everett’s book “James.” Those interested in joining the virtual discussion can request an invitation by emailing [email protected].

The Stewart C. Meyer Harker Heights Public Library continues to provide valuable resources and programs for the community, fostering a love for reading and learning during this Fall Break. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to engage with the library and each other.
