Hadley Solomon, a candidate for the St. Vrain Valley School Board in District B, is advocating for inclusive educational policies and innovative growth strategies to address the unique challenges facing the district. With a background in business consulting and a degree in journalism from the University of Arizona, Solomon brings a wealth of experience to her candidacy.
One of her primary focuses is ensuring that the district continues to support marginalized student groups, including students of color, transgender individuals, and immigrants. Solomon emphasizes the importance of creating an environment where all students feel safe and respected. “Public schools have a responsibility to educate and protect all students,” she stated. “I would support following Colorado’s state policies that safeguard these groups while ensuring every student feels welcome.”
In addressing the dual challenges of declining enrollment in some areas and rapid growth in others, Solomon believes in the necessity of data-driven planning. “Our district faces different challenges in different areas,” she noted. “Some schools are under-enrolled, while others are full and need new buildings. We must listen to families and plan accordingly.” She suggests creative models such as K–8 schools and adjustments to transportation as potential solutions to better align resources with community needs.
Fiscal responsibility is another cornerstone of Solomon’s approach. She recognizes the importance of keeping schools close to communities while being judicious with taxpayer funds. “The goal is to ensure that we are meeting the needs of students and communities effectively,” she explained.
Technology also plays a significant role in her vision for the district. Solomon identifies the integration of technology as a major issue, stressing the need for safe and effective use. “Tools like AI can help teachers and students, but we also need to protect student privacy,” she stated. She advocates for investing in technical services, staff training, and clear policies to ensure technology enhances rather than distracts from learning.
As a former president of Grassroots St. Vrain and an active participant in various educational committees, Solomon is committed to fostering academic excellence and innovation. Her past leadership roles, including serving on Parent Advisory Boards at Niwot Elementary and Sunset Middle, demonstrate her dedication to community engagement.
In a district experiencing significant changes, Hadley Solomon aims to bring a thoughtful, inclusive approach to the St. Vrain Valley School Board. Her commitment to prioritizing student safety, community needs, and effective technology use positions her as a candidate focused on a balanced and progressive future for education in the area.
