Guam will host Incident Command System (ICS) training opportunities this month, organized by the Guam Homeland Security and the Office of Civil Defense in collaboration with the Port Authority of Guam. The training sessions are designed for emergency management personnel and will take place at the PAG training room in Piti.
The ICS-300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents course is scheduled from January 12 to January 14, 2024, running daily from 08:30 to 17:00. Following this, the ICS-400 Advanced Incident Command System for Complex Incidents course will be held from January 15 to January 16, 2024, at the same times. These courses are essential for personnel who need a deeper understanding of the advanced applications of the Incident Command System.
Both the ICS-300 and ICS-400 courses build upon the foundational knowledge provided in the ICS-100 and ICS-200 courses. Participants will explore various critical topics, including the national incident management system and its command and management components, which are vital for managing expanding incidents. Attendees will also engage in simulated incident management processes and develop an incident action plan tailored to a hypothetical scenario.
Those eligible to attend include emergency management personnel, government representatives, federal and military partners, as well as members from private and non-profit organizations. The courses aim to equip senior personnel who may take on supervisory roles during expanding emergency incidents, ensuring they are prepared to perform effectively in management capacities during real-life events.
To register for the training sessions, interested individuals should contact Patrick Leon Guerrero, the training and exercise program manager, via email at [email protected]. These training opportunities provide essential skills and knowledge for those involved in emergency management, enhancing preparedness and response capabilities across Guam.
