The Southeastern Lifetime Learning and Ponchatoula Community Care Center have organized a free informational session titled Navigating Senior Care, scheduled for September 16 at 2 p.m.. This event will take place at the Southeastern Alumni Center, located at 500 University Ave. in Hammond. The session aims to provide essential insights for families exploring senior care services, which can often become a pressing need.
Understanding Senior Care Options
Lisa Gardner, a representative from CommCare Corporation, a nonprofit organization focused on senior care, emphasized the urgency many families feel when considering these services. “Understanding options, how they differ and navigating various payor sources can be overwhelming,” she noted. The session will address critical questions regarding senior care, including:
- How does palliative care differ from hospice?
- What distinguishes inpatient rehabilitation from skilled nursing and rehabilitation?
- What are the differences between home health and home care?
- How does long-term care differ from long-term acute care?
- What differentiates assisted living, memory care, and nursing home care?
- What criteria must be met to access these options and what payor sources are available?
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of these topics and be better equipped to make informed decisions regarding senior care.
Event Details and Registration
The Navigating Senior Care session is free and open to the public. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from ten different senior care service providers after the educational portion of the event. This interaction allows for further inquiries and deeper understanding of available services.
Refreshments will be provided during the session; however, reservations are required. Interested individuals can register through the Southeastern Lifetime Learning website at this link.
With the growing demand for senior care services, this informational session promises to equip families with the necessary knowledge to navigate their options effectively.
