The city of Kingston is set to welcome back its free indoor playground program for preschoolers at the Andy Murphy Neighborhood Center on December 2, 2025. This initiative, organized by the Parks and Recreation Department, provides a warm and safe environment for young children to play and socialize during the colder months.
Program Details and Schedule
The indoor play space will be available to preschool-aged children every Tuesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults must accompany their children at all times while they enjoy the facilities. The program caters specifically to toddlers and those in pre-kindergarten, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.
According to Lynsey Timbrouck, the city’s Parks and Recreation director, “This popular program serves as an alternative option for little ones to stay warm while they play and socialize during the colder months.” The initiative aims to provide families with a reliable space for their children to engage in physical activity and community interaction.
No prior registration is necessary for this drop-in program, making it easily accessible for families in the area. However, the program will be suspended in cases of inclement weather, specifically when the Kingston City School District experiences a two-hour delay or cancellation. This ensures the safety and well-being of all participants.
Holiday Break and Future Dates
The indoor playground will take a holiday break from December 26, 2025, to January 6, 2026. Following this hiatus, the program will resume its regular schedule on Tuesdays and Fridays until March 27, 2026. This extended availability allows families to take full advantage of the program throughout the winter months.
The return of the free indoor playground program is anticipated to be a valuable resource for many families in Kingston, fostering a sense of community while providing an enjoyable experience for young children during the winter season.
