The Delta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. crowned Nadia Banks as Miss Fashionetta 2025 during its annual Fashionetta Pageant held on March 15, 2024, at Varick Auditorium on the campus of Livingstone College. This event has become a cherished tradition for the chapter, showcasing the poise, talent, and personal growth of seven outstanding girls ranging from third to eighth grade.
Nadia Banks, the daughter of James and Monica Banks, was escorted by Evan Michael Varnado and received the prestigious title of Miss Fashionetta. Kenry Wilder, escorted by Kenneth Drye III, earned the title of 1st runner-up and was also recognized as Miss Congeniality. Wilder was sponsored by LaSheka Walker.
Empowerment Through Engagement
The young participants embarked on their journey in January, engaging in months of enrichment activities guided by the sorority’s members. These activities included public speaking, etiquette training, and community engagement, all aimed at building confidence and leadership skills. The Fashionetta experience not only fosters personal development but also contributes to scholarship funds for local high school students pursuing higher education and supports various community projects.
A notable feature of the pageant was a vibrant “creative dance,” choreographed by Kayla Graham. Additionally, the participants learned and performed a waltz, adding to the evening’s festivities. A new recognition, Outstanding Escort, was presented to Major Rankin, marking a highlight of the event.
Other participants included Naomi Cole, Summer Dearmon, Ava Guerra, Niyomi Hall, and Keionna O’Neal. Their escorts were Nihiem Cole, Major Rankin, Bryson Johnson, Jaydn Crowder, and Jimmy Ramseur Jr. Ushers for the event were Masn Rankin, Noah Cameron, and Bryce White.
Chapter President Alisa Russell, along with Chairman Sherry Alexander and other members of Delta Xi Omega, extended heartfelt congratulations to all participants and their families. “The program was beautiful and memorable,” the organization stated in a press release. They expressed enthusiasm for future celebrations of youth empowerment and achievement.
The Fashionetta Pageant remains a significant event for Delta Xi Omega, continuing its legacy of nurturing young talent and promoting community involvement.
