The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has announced that Chief Deputy Eric Alger has been selected to participate in the prestigious FBI National Academy, Session 297, in Quantico, Virginia. This esteemed program is internationally recognized as one of the most significant law enforcement training initiatives globally, admitting only a limited number of law enforcement leaders through a competitive nomination process.
The 10-week program comprises advanced coursework in areas such as leadership, communication, behavioral science, and physical fitness. Participants include senior law enforcement officials from across the United States and over 30 foreign countries, fostering an environment of collaboration and shared learning.
Recognition of Leadership and Commitment
Sheriff Bryan Welk expressed pride in Alger’s selection, stating, “Chief Deputy Alger’s selection is an incredible honor for both him and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. This opportunity reflects his leadership, dedication, and professionalism.” Sheriff Welk emphasized that the knowledge and experience gained from the National Academy will enhance the quality of service provided to the citizens of Cass County.
Alger, a lifelong resident of the area, is a graduate of Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School and a member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. Before pursuing a career in law enforcement, he served his country as a combat veteran during the Iraq War. With over 14 years of service at the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Alger has held various leadership roles, demonstrating his commitment to public safety.
