Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio has welcomed 80 transfer students this fall, awarding them over $1.1 million in merit scholarships based on their previous academic achievements. Among the new transfers are students from Medina County, showcasing their dedication to higher education.
Local students receiving notable scholarships include Brock Beech and Brett Bohannon, both from Medina. Beech, a graduate of Medina Senior High School, is majoring in business administration and received the Transfer President’s Scholarship. Bohannon, who graduated from Buckeye Senior High School, is pursuing a degree in sport management and also earned a Transfer President’s Scholarship.
In addition, Rylin Carter and Nick Cary, graduates of Brunswick High School, received scholarships for their studies in media production and cybersecurity, respectively. Other local students such as Mia Knauss, Lukas Riedel, and Jeremy Turner have also been recognized for their academic excellence with various scholarships.
First-Year Students Achieve Over $9.4 Million in Scholarships
Baldwin Wallace University also welcomed over 500 first-year students this semester, who collectively earned more than $9.4 million in scholarships for their exceptional high school performance. Notable scholarship recipients include Sam Dalessandro and Rachel Bryan, both from Brunswick, who earned President’s Scholarships, alongside other students from the area.
The university’s scholarship program highlights the commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and academic pursuits. Scholarships range from President’s to Trustee’s and Dean’s Scholarships, reflecting the achievements and potential of the recipients.
In addition to Baldwin Wallace, Ohio Wesleyan University is preparing for its production of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” starting on October 30. Local student Nic Laurence from Medina plays the role of Macduff and serves as the assistant technical director for the show. The performances will take place at the Chappelear Drama Center, with tickets available for purchase online.
Neo Sim Graduates from Georgia Tech
In a related academic success, Neo Sim from Medina recently earned a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Sim was among approximately 2,000 students who graduated during the Summer 2025 semester, demonstrating the caliber of education and commitment to excellence among students in the region.
