Pier 57 Welcomes New Dining Destinations: ofCorsica and Miru

Pier 57 in Manhattan has expanded its culinary offerings with the opening of two new restaurants: ofCorsica and Miru. Established by Michael Dorf, founder of City Winery, these venues aim to provide diverse dining experiences that reflect distinct cultural influences.

Exploring Mediterranean Flavors at ofCorsica

Located on the ground floor of Pier 57, ofCorsica presents a menu inspired by Mediterranean coastal cuisine. Under the guidance of Executive Chef Andrew Minitelli, known for his work at IRIS and Osteria Morini, the restaurant emphasizes seasonal ingredients and vibrant coastal flavors. Notably, it boasts the largest collection of Corsican wines in the United States, offering a unique selection for wine enthusiasts.

The dining space features arched ceilings and an open layout, providing panoramic views of the Hudson River. This design creates an inviting atmosphere that balances sophistication with a relaxed vibe, making it suitable for various dining occasions.

Miru: A Unique Japanese Experience

On the upper level, Miru reinterprets traditional Japanese listening lounges. Executive Chef Rick Horiike, who has experience at Nobu 57 and Morimoto, leads a menu that includes hand-crafted sushi and shareable plates, paired with an expansive selection of sake. The interior design is plush and intimate, featuring skyline-facing windows that enhance the ambiance, making it ideal for both casual gatherings and lively late-night scenes, complete with live DJs.

The two restaurants complement each other, offering visitors a complete dining experience. Many patrons may choose to dine at ofCorsica before transitioning to Miru for cocktails and entertainment, allowing them to enjoy a blend of Mediterranean warmth and Tokyo-inspired nightlife.

These openings are part of a broader vision for Pier 57, which also includes the Market Hall curated by the James Beard Foundation, a public rooftop park, and cultural programming. According to Dorf, the aim is to create spaces that feel like hidden gems, inviting guests to discover the unique offerings at the pier. He stated, “With ofCorsica and Miru, my hope is that guests feel transported, whether by the soulful flavors of the Mediterranean or the soundscape and craft of Japan.”

Noreen Doyle, Executive Director of the Hudson River Park Trust, emphasized that these new dining options provide visitors with “even more ways to enjoy this unique historic jewel.”

As the culinary scene at Pier 57 continues to evolve, both locals and tourists are encouraged to explore these new venues. While the journey to the end of Pier 57 may require some effort, diners are likely to find the experience rewarding, with stunning views and exceptional food awaiting them.
