A new jazz club is poised to open in Hell’s Kitchen, taking over the space currently occupied by Swing 46 at 349 West 46th Street. The venture is being developed by Jazzcultural LLC, according to recently filed paperwork. This new establishment aims to blend a restaurant, club, and bar experience, featuring 49 indoor tables that will accommodate 84 guests, along with a stand-up bar seating 13.
Plans for outdoor seating complement the indoor arrangements, with eight tables offering capacity for an additional 16 patrons. The club intends to serve a limited food menu, focusing on bar-style offerings, including cheeseburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, BLTs, wings, fries, and mac and cheese. Proposed hours of operation are ambitious, spanning from 12:00 to 04:00 daily.
At the helm of this project is Spike Wilner, a notable figure in New York City’s jazz scene. Wilner is not only a musician but also a seasoned club owner, known for his successful establishments, Smalls Jazz Club and Mezzrow, both located in the West Village. His experience and passion for jazz are expected to shape the vision for this new venue.
While the concept appears promising, details regarding the opening timeline remain uncertain. Efforts to contact Wilner for further comment were unsuccessful. As the jazz community anticipates this addition to Hell’s Kitchen, many are eager to see how it will contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of the area.
